Hi folks,
I like the TOR project and want to participate. My question: Is it a
good idea to set up a server, which is not connected to the internet
contineously? -- i.e. I turn on my computer, when I come home from
work and turn it off at bedtime, so it runs several hours a day - is
this enough?

worst case: you might get your home searched or computers taken away
(for some time).
At least you may need to write letters

ok, thx for the answers, will do that.
I'm trying to run a tor client on my router in order anomyise my network.
- System is: Asus WL-500G (32MB Ram)
Nice router. The CPU is a 260 MHz MIPS core from Broadcom that
implements almost all of the MIPS32 instruction set (the one exception
being the WAIT instruction).
- OS is: OpenWRT
Can I somehow setup that the endpoint (=exit node) should be in USA ?
How do I specify this in Tor or Vidalia?
Ben

TorK offers this functionality, or follow the directions at

The Tor network so far is largely seen only as an anonymizing

However, it is fully capable of becoming a real Darknet,

Not seeing that on my tor server, did have some other odd messages though.

here's a new error I've never seen before. It just started this
afternoon, and I'm using the latest alpha on Ubuntu 7.10:

Hi,
I already saw some messages about this but cannot find them back.
Tor 0.2.0.15-alpha when I launch it uses 100% CPU. I have to shut it down
through CTRL-ALT-DEL, launch it again and the second time it is ok.
This wasn't before, I think it began to happen 2 or 3 beta releases ago.

GRC says port is closed but not stealthed. Firestarter shows that I have
a remote connection via tor on port 433, and TCP433 is allowed. What
could still be going wrong here?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
