[Origami] designs created?

2015-09-17 Thread Ed Reinhardt
I recently created these and wanted to ask this community if they were
new designs.

They are these two:

rabbit based on traditional rabbit.

whale breathing.

[Origami] Dorothy Kap[an passed away today

2015-09-17 Thread Sue Hedrick
I just received news that Dottie Kaplan has died peacefully at the age of 89.
She had asked that her fellow origamists be told of her passing. She spent her
last days surrounded by her family. Those who know her know how much she loved
origami and how much she did to spread this love to others.

Her daughter sent the following information on arrangements:

"As the Jewish faith dictates, we waste no time having the funeral and since
we're up against our Sabbath, she will have a service tomorrow at 2pm at the
Freehold Jewish Cemetery on route 33 next to a side entrance to the Freehold
Mall. (Google Map Hebrew Benefit Society, Route 33, Freehold, NJ) If anyone
wants further directions please have them contact me
[fekap...@gmail.com]. Also, we will go from there to
a local restaurant afterwards to celebrate her and would invite all to join us

(tho we'd love to let the restaurant know how many people will be coming.)
Thank you so much, Fran Francine Kaplan

Don't know of a formal type name or list. I'll contribute to this
discussion that Sy Chen (who creates a lot of this type of origami)
designed a model I rather enjoyed of a recycle symbol.

Happy folding,

[Origami] Flat rectangular models with color change?

2015-09-17 Thread Gerardo @neorigami.com
Hi, I'm looking for origami flat rectangular models with color change that
are openly taught through the web. I mean models like Escape Sign by
Morisue Kei and I know there's a crab model with those same
characteristics, but I don't know who created it or what is its name. Hadi
Tahir teaches how to fold a couple of models like that in Neorigami, but
I'm looking for other models. What's important is that the final model ends
up being rectangular, including a square. Flags have those characteristics
but I wish to avoid that theme. I'd prefer a geometric model instead of a
figurative one but you can tell me about them both.

Does that type of origami have a name? Is there a list of models of that
type somewhere on the web?

Thank you guys.

[Origami] 10th anniversary Origamigos de Brasilia - Brazil (FWD for Yahoo user)

2015-09-17 Thread Anne LaVin
(From your list moderator, Anne LaVin: I am forwarding a message on behalf
of Yahoo user "Lus de Pessôa" ; please reply to the list
or to the original author, not to me!)

Our Brazilian origami group - Origamigos de Brasilia will be celebrating
ten years of folding and wish to commemorate the milestone with a small
collection of diagrams from around the world to showcase all the countries
and friends they have folded with and grown to know over the past ten
years.

We are asking for diagrams for our celebrate book.

Thanks

Lus de Pessôa

My Bird of Paradise seems to fit the bill. The video tutorial is at
