The car is packed with food, camping and running equipment and I'm now setting off. Tomorrow morning I set off on my first mountain marathon, the Lochalsh Dirty 30. http://www.lochalsh-trails.co.uk/ We start at the pituresque village of Glenelg on the west coast of Scotland, overlooking the Isle of Skye, then run along the coast, past the famous Eilean Donan Castle (it's featured in many films) and then back into the mountains and through a mountain pass, then back to Glenelg for beers and food. Total distance is 30 miles, with 1000m of ascent/descent thrown into the mix, furthest I've ever been on foot in one day so it's quite a challenging adventure, but ohh yes the countryside is stunning and worth ever step. But... of course I'll be thinking about terrain visualization, shader composition and fixing pesky bugs as I go... for a at least a second or two ;-) Catch up with you all on Monday, and have a great weekend yourselves, Robert. ___ osg-users mailing list osg-users@lists.openscenegraph.org http://lists.openscenegraph.org/listinfo.cgi/osg-users-openscenegraph.org The University of Aberdeen is a charity registered in Scotland, No SC013683. ___ osg-users mailing list osg-users@lists.openscenegraph.org http://lists.openscenegraph.org/listinfo.cgi/osg-users-openscenegraph.org

Hello All, I am trying, for the first time, to export a Blender model into OSG - specifically, present3D. I have compiled OSG debug version with Collada, Exported a DAE from Blender 'eye.dae'. This application has failed to start because libcollada14dom2l-d.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. ( Technically, the application isn't installed, I didn't build 'INSTALL'. Does this matter? ) The dll is in the folder C:\2010-02-22_OSG\bin\osgPlugins-2.9.7\osgdb_daed.dll, however, libcollada14dom2l-d.dll is in C:\OSG_dev\collada \dom\build\vc9-1.4-d\libcollada14dom21-d.dll (miles away) This directory \collada\ is at the same level, *but not inside* the OSG 3rdParty dependencies folder. I have an environmental variable COLLADA_DIR= C:\OSG_dev\collada Also, have C:\OSG_dev\collada \dom\build\vc9-1.4-d\ in PATH variable. I tried copying the DLL to C:\2010-02-22_OSG\bin\osgPlugins-2.9.7 - but, didn't help. The minimal slide contains two things, and I don't think is the cause of the problem: 1. The title which displays and handles as normal, 2. The DAE model (not) - which of course doesn't appear. Re: [osg-users] [build] OSG w. MSVC9 - osgUtil/TexturePoolSize compilation problem
Hi Robert, I agree that it has nothing to do with your recent changes. My suspicion is it has something to do with file i/o, or, if it's involved (?) - threading - and me having used a wrong version of something. What part of OSG/P3D handles the i/o? ( This is my home computer on which OSG was successfully compiled in Callander and used for running/developing presentations, etc. :-) Re: Sanity check: yes the presentation I was initially trying to run was one that worked previously, but I will double-check later. Also, introduction.p3d - a very simple file in OSG-Data used to work; doesn't now ( My last email I attached the super-simple file I investigated with: As it stands it doesn't work. If you delete the line, 'volume technique=mipCARDIX/volume' - the file works (Displaying Hello World), so it's not XML parsing or text rendering. Replacing volume tag with an image tag will also break things. i.e. Seems to be anytime it has to fetch a file. Bypassing the script file and just displaying a volume from the command-line works. So it's not the rendering side of things. ) Another little passing observation - in CMake options, there is one for 'Use UTF-8 filenames' which was unchecked - I wonder if that could cause problems? Off topic: Can you confirm you have access to the Mac, please/thanks. If not, I can sort that today. However, I am not beside the Windows computer today, so can't really progress that. :-) John Montgomery Medi-CAL Unit, CLSM, Polwarth Bldg., Forresterhill, Aberdeen AB25 2ZD. MSVC9 - osgUtil/TexturePoolSize compilation problem Hi John, I believe the problems you are seeing will probably not be related to the changes I've recently checked in w.r.t the texture pool. Have you had osgviewer and present3D working fine on this machine with these models/presentations before? What spec hardware (i.e. graphics card, CPU etc) are you currently working on? I've just tested introduction.p3d and your slide.p3d against one of the volumes I have here and the all working fine. The problem in rendering of morhphing.osg is just down to the morphed geometry needing to be explictly initialized by osgAnimation. If you run osganimationviewer morphing.osg you should see how it's supposed to function, it would better if it'd behavior better by default with the need for directly enabling osgAnimation, but I'll have to defer to Cedric Pinson (author + maintainer of osgAnimation) on this topic. As a sanity test try the same models/presentations on the Mac. Robert. Same for TextureObject. I'm in the process of a full build, I'll submit the modified files as soon as I'm sure everything builds and runs well. I just wanted you to know so you can do the change locally if you need the build right now. Success! Build: 84 succeeded, 0 failed, 5 up-to-date, 0 skipped I did J-S's alterations. Re: [osg-users] [build] OSG w. MSVC9 - osgUtil/TexturePoolSize compilation problem
Hi again, I'm afraid something's not quite right with my compilation. With both osgviewer and present3D it's the same behavior: If I directly view a Dicom data set e.g. present3D CARDIX.dicom - it displays fine (using present3D the 4 render methods , etc. all the keypresses work too.). Further stuff I noted: bullet works - text appears, if there's no following Volume tag. image crashes - again the last thing that appears is 'find file mypicture.jpg' (which is in the same directory as the calling p3d source). Is the next step to recompile with Debug active? Or, does the above suggest something to you? I'm also sketchy on what environmental variables should be set - I have added C:\OSG_dev\3rdParty\bin;C:\OSG\bin; to my PATH, but that's all. Thanks. :-) John Montgomery, Glassel, Scotland.
