Evidence of Pak hand in terror: Pranab

A few days ago, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri told
NDTV that a solution to the Siachen stalemate was just days away.

This was an outlook not shared by the Indian side which remained a bit
sceptical.

Now, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherji, in an interview to Vir
Sanghvi on NDTV's One-on-One, has said that while there has been some
progress on the issue, it's still nowhere near being resolved.

He also said that India had reasonable evidence of Pakistani involvement in
terrorist activities in India.

Vir: Kasuri has said in an interview to NDTV that Siachen can be solved in
3-4 days, if both sides sat down. Do you think that's a bit over optimistic?

Pranab: If both sides 'agreed', then it wouldn't take 3-4 days, but several
talks have taken place, defence secretarial level talks. There is no doubt
in it, and I think once there was a talk between the armed forces of both
sides. There has been some progress but things are yet to be finally
resolved.

Vir: The Pakistanis have often said that there might well be Pakistanis
involved in terrorism in India, but there is officially no sanction or
support. Have we accepted that position?

Pranab: I don't think any country in the world would say, "I have sanctioned
a terrorist activity." When the demand was made that they state, 'I have
stopped terrorist activities,' then I raised this question, "Is there any
state under the sun that will say that look until this time I was into
terrorist activities?"

Vir: But now I am not.

Pranab: Yes, therefore it is to be kept in view that no state can declare
that terrorism is the accepted policy of the state.

Vir: That's the Pakistani point of view. What is our position? Do we believe
that there was involvement?

Pranab: We have reasonable evidence that some of the organisations are
involved.

Vir: So we have evidence?

Pranab: So therefore, we feel we have reasonable evidence, some good
evidence of that there has been some involvement of those organisations.
