Have you checked the logs in the UI for miis?

+1 for Chris’s idea of checking the Forefront Identity Manager Agent UI.
Run this: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Synchronization
Service\UIShell\miisclient.exe
and have a poke around, commonly has better log detail than ULS.

Thanks Chris and James… I’ve been looking at miis logs, and there aren’t any
errors – it almost seems as if it’s not even trying to import data for the
suspect accounts. I’m busy going through the exclusion filters and profile
properties to try and see if there’s something there that may be
