Subject: downloading streaming clip
Hello. We've tried to download Paul Harvey clips for listening to later.
Chrissie:
I have a Delta 66 and a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 soundcard in my computer.
After reading your email, I proceeded to duplicate what you are wanting to
do. So, in the Hand/HeadSet option, found in the options menu, I changed
Audio-in to the Audigy and audio-out to the delta soundcards. I
Hello PC-Audio:
I would like to knowo if there is a CD recorder that is accessable to the
blind that you can listen to a CD and at the same time record songs on to
a blank CD.
I called Good Guy's and ask the saleman if there was a machine that I could
record a CD on to a blank CD and they
Hi Jim,
Thanks for that. I just tried it quickly last night without testing, but
was interested to find that both combo boxes said the same thing but will
give it another go this afternoon.
Thanks
Chrissie

PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines,
You need to make sure that you have software, and not the sound board option
checked under the recording options. You will also want to check the record
also input stream internet telephony only check box. You can also choose to
put each source to a different speaker, but that's up to you.
I have been testing the Window Eyes Demo. It seems that it cannot be set to
choose a particular sound card, for instance the on-board sound, so I can
use my Delta card for music sounds.
Has anyone found a work around for this?

Hello Mike: I tried what you suggested; I now have software instead of
soundboard check. So..at least..now..it's not recording the microphone.
But it's still not recording the audio stream either; it did, however, pick
up the sound of my screenreader; I expected that. But I still don't know
There is no way anyone can tell a blind
person if a CD recorder will be
accessible to them. The only thing I
have found useful and accessible is the
CD burner program and the use of a
burner on the computer. I had a bad
deal with a stand-alone recorder and
took it back to the store only to be

should..and should not be checked? I do intend to listen to it anyway.
Thanks again.

Hi,
Per the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, I have included excerpts from users who
praise that card. Yet they have been using Santa Cruz for a long time.
What is the experience of T B card users using a newer computer with XP

Hi Marty: Thanks; that may give me an idea of the correct way things should
be checked for Total Recorder to do what I need it to do; right now, it
just seems hellbent on recording the microphone!

PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines,
Gary,
Not sure, but I think that the burn rate is more dependent on your processor
speed than the size of your hard drive or other factors. For example, I'm
running Windows 98 with an Athelon processor and I think the burn rate is
something like 52x if I remember ... whatever it is, I know it's
Absolutely wrong. The burn rate is dependent on the speed of your CD writer.

Jim,
Okay, pleading ignorance here, smile, I know nothing about the Delta
soundcards. Seems that the ones I always hear recommended are either some
flavor of Soundblaster or Turtle Beach, so what is different about the delta
card and how do I know if I want one? How does it compare pricewise to
Hi All,
The way you solve this problem is to explain to the salesman that he/she
can't possibly know what it's going to take for you to be able to use the
specific piece of equipment. Insist on at least 30 days to experiment with
it in your home under your particular conditions and
Hi Tom,
I think you will have trouble getting TR to reliably record streaming audio
as long as you are using software speech. There are a number of factors
involved including the need to use the Total Recorder driver in software

Is there a way to play real audio content through winamp or how can I make

To my knowledge, most people don't have much luck with software speech

You would think that a card costing several hundreds of dollars would do
software speech but it isn't always the case. I have two higher end USB

I just bought the TDK I'mASpeaker. I thought the sound would be in stereo.
It seems the jack on the speaker turns the sound from a portable CD player

Well, I guess easy CD extractor is $29.00 which I would pay if I could

I can probably afford Nero this month, but something like Sound Forge would
have to wait until late spring/ early summer of 05. Is it true that Sound
Forge has some kind of copy protection that prohibits you from installing it
onto your computer more than three times?
Best,

That's kinda true. I have installed the product numbers of times. However if
they believe that you are genuine in your request to reinstall after the
number of activations has passed they will reactivate the product for you. I
have even had them provide misplaced serial numbers for me after a
