Goldwave is good for converting .wav files into MP3 files.
The software called EasyCD Extractor from Poico is excellent for ripping
from cd's;
it searches multiple databases for matches returns you the names audio
for each track.
Most every time I rip a cd with it, it is found on a

Try cdex and use og vorbis files as output. Many mp3 players can
play them and so can win amp. They're smaller than mp3 files and for size
to quality ratio, your best choice.

only software you'll need to achieve all of your requirements:

* it will retrieve artist, CD title, track titles, track number, year

Ripping 350 CD's is going to take you some time and you're probably not
going to want to repeat the exercise again. Given that I would recommend
that you rip a CD a number of times in different formats to make sure you're
happy with the results before you embark on such a project.
If
Forget Windows Media, get a decent player such as Winamp, and encode them
into Ogg Vorbis using software such as DBPowerAmp Music Converter or CDEX.
