Hi Fred,
I installed one of these units last night and after a bit of a wrestle got
it to work on a PC using Windows XP and JFW 5.1.
1.Make sure you turn off JFW (or any other screen reader), before
connecting to the PC USB port. This is because, once the connection is
made, the default
it may be the boost that needs switched on I had the same problem and
went into recording and the mic boost was not on I switched it on end of

Angel! Your microphone is probably OK for most things you'll want to

be sure that the 20 DB Microphone boost is on.

Keith! $249.00 is a great price for the Sound Forge bundle and I can
match it if you could tell me where you saw that price. The price was just
recently lowered and the Academic Version discontinued. Brian's tutorial is
still applicable but I don't believe he ever did sets for 7.0.
If you can afford it, you can get Soundforge from Sonypictures.

Hi,

I do not have external speakers; mine are built into my monitor.
When you say the default is changed to u s b speakers, pardon my
ignorance here: but will that affect my monitor-based speakers?
Many thanksfort hese ttips and Happy Thanksgiving to
For straight recording and editing, there's no need to spend $400 on Sound
Forge when you can get Gold Wave for a tenth the price.

Hi,
The only problem with alcohol is it's been forbitten in many countries, so
you can't buy it any more.
I use Nero for burning these images. Also cd rwin and many other newer
programs can burn these. The only one that cannot is easy cd creator at
least in the versions i've tried out.

What about the recording program I think it was called Sound Recorder that
you used to be able to get through the Printing House in Louisville or isn't
this person in the United States?

That was called Studio Recorder, I believe. No idea of the cost of that.

Hello everyone,
I got a call this weekend, that my Aiwa boombox I ordered was in. So on
Monday I went and picked it up.
It is terrific. I am really glad that I kept looking, and that I sent the
Sony back.
I don't have the bleed in with my NPR station like I did with that Sony, and

Hi,
Referring to radio stations from around the country, thanks to those who
helped me find
many ofthem via MediaPlayer and RealOne.
I have 160 U. S. and foreign stations saved and appreciate your fine help.
www.blindradio.com is a great site for getting them.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Designed specifically for that purpose, is Studio Recorder from the American
Printing house for the Blind. If you can afford the $200, or there abouts,
it will serve very well. I am amazed that more blind people in the
community are unaware of the existence of that program.

It is possible to record music as well.

I'd expect that your speakers will not be activated when the USB device is
connected because only one output or playback device would be invoked being
the default one.
Could well be wrong, but that's what I'd suspect.
