Play them in Winamp and check with alt-3 what it displays as the settings.

Well, it was probably available for quite awhile. I just can't get used to
idiot-proofing. I finally just tried recording with the thing plugged in after
all the settings seemed right and there it is, and the test call with skype
worked. Thanks, folks, for all yer various wisdoms.

I am confused. You are saying 56K, but I found something that says 44100
sampling rate. Are these two different items?
Thanks. What can I read to learn about these things?

Thanks, Jay. Where can I check the bit rate of a recording? I'm using
winamp when I can and when I can't, I'm using media player. Using GoldWave
to record. Can I change the bit rate of a file already recorded? How?
Thanks.

I just read an article about a new solid state Ipod that is to replace
the mini. It's called the Nano and will hold 500 or 1,000 songs at a
cost of approximately $200 and $250 respectively.
Apparently it uses the click wheel technology and I have no idea about
accessibility. They should hit the
Hi list,
I need to know, how does one search from within the library in version
5.1 of Winamp along with Window-Eyes 5?
Thanks.

In the old days mics had impediences so perhapsw you need to compare the
impedience requirements of your sound card with the impedience of the mic
you are trying to use.

Thanks Gary and Jay,
Here's what I have,:
When I was beginning to learn, I recorded a tune from a cassette tape to a
.wav file using recall pro. Converted it to .mp3 using GoldWave. The size
of the .mp3 file is 4,390. Winamp shows 320kbit, 48000 hz stereo.
I downloaded the same tune as .mp3
44.1 KHZ is the frequency of a file used for CD audio. 16-bit is the bit
rate for CD audio, and 128 to 320-bits for MP3 recordings. Hope this helps!

Hi
Nope it's not really, you just have to know where to go on the Winamp site
to get it.
On the download page, there are 2 buttons. one that says, getfree, and
another one that says, go pro. if you want the free one, you press the get
free button. and obviously if you want pro, you press the go
it will work out of the box

Is there any way I can listen to real streams using winamp? I know there used
to be TARA, but I've lately tried the new winamp with a dot RAM file and it
won't play. You'd think surely after all this time Wimamp would play real
media streams such as Radio 1 and Radio Scotland? Or is winamp only
