I'm going off of my memory here, but I believe I've also seen commercial recordings and older tape recordings where NLS has gone back and inserted some markups to facilitate navigation by chapter or heading. I've also seen older books which have been rerecorded in the new digital format

The same principle would work, but instead of splitting the tracks with an audio editor they're using the DAISY standard to mark the different chapters and headings. I haven't done this myself, or used any of the DAISY tools, but this is still a manual effort, and NLS has to cut over to doing
