I use Winamp full time for just about everything except buy music or
manage my iDevices, which I use iTunes for. I say this as Winamp can
apparently manage your iPod in a limited way, but choose to use iTunes
for that and Winamp for others. I know you didn't want anything to rip

Ok folks. I have downloaded the latest version of Winamp. I thank all for

thank you all. As I said, I've downloaded the latest version and when
installing I had three choices, light, standard and full. I opted for the

Hi folks
I suppose it is probably too late to ask about this now as folks especially
in Australia may not get this. But I would really like to listen to online
radio commentary of the upcoming rugby test between the Walabies and the
Welsh in Cardiff later today. Does anyone know where I

Fanus!
Let's hope that they don't block us from outside of the UK out as they often
do. I went to bbc sport wales and that is the message I get.
You can quite possibly get it on the welsh radio station if you can
understand a word of what they're saying!

Hi Andre
Usually fivelive extra says (for UK only) but when I visited
the sight two hours ago it did not say that, so I hope it
will work.

Hi,
Five Live Extra is not geoblocked beyond the UK borders. I even have the AAC
128kb/s stream for that one since there are regularly accessible just the weak
WMA with about 32kb/s over the website outside the UK which isn't too much...

Hello Walter. All those checkboxes for filetypes are what you want win amp
to be able to play. I usually just choose select all. From what I know
standard should be fine. Also, and this is key. If jaws ever doesn't seem to

Hi. Well, in the set up dialogue there is an option to select Winamp agent,
the box is checked by default but I don't know what this is and if I would
be better off unchecking it, do you know what it is? Walter.

that's not quite true, there are different quality decoders out there
for MP3 files for example, the Mad plug-in for Winamp is one of the
nicest I've heard. There are others.

I'll throw a forth player into the discussion, I like Itunes, the people
at GW Micro have - at long last - done a great job with the iTunes
scripts and it works like clockwork.
the software can be a little challenging for beginners but there are

Winamp should suffice most uses yep, I thought Real Player was a part of
history now?
I've used VLC with the Mac and love it! a very nice player though as yet
haven't tried it under Windows, I'm told that its accessible? Certainly
the last Windows version I tried quite some years ago wasn't.
You can certainly find batteries for them yep and bigger hard drives
too! best place to look is at Ebay.
Then you'll have to get someone to put the battery in for you and its
not something that's easily done, your local service shop should have
the tools to do it.

HI
Jaws says you shouldn't use Winamp agent; however, I use it. It is
supposed to keep other players from grabbing the default from Winamp.

Just out of curiosity, have you had someone give you a blind test to
determine if you can hear the difference, and how much?

I see there are actually youtube videos explaining exactly how to do this.
And with rockbox loaded on it you should have a very accessible mp3 player
also.
I sincerely doubt whether the newer players although much smaller will
actually give you better sound quality.
I have quite a few
The same program works for both 32 and 64 bit. The truth is Winamp runs
using the wow64 system that is implemented in 64 bit operating systems.
wow means Windows on Windows, and is a system to allow 32 bit programs
to run natively on a 64 bit operating system.

I'm not one to confirm or deny your doubt, I've found better quality MP3

I've just unchecked Winamp Agent because it's just another process I
don't think I need running on my PC. I don't install enough media
players, and I'm careful when I do, so I don't worry about my file
associations getting taken over. That being said, it's a good precaution

I just did it because FS said it was inaccessible and should be unchecked. I
also like to have as few programs running in the background as necessary.

Smaller most definitely there is no doubt about that!
It's one of the only mp3 players around that has a line output for example.
And newer technology does not necessarily mean better sound quality in the
end. Would be interesting to do a straight comparison between the iriver
and my Nokia e52
Yep, exactly what I thought you'd say, said the very same things about a year
and a half ago smile.
The Iriver 320 is certainly not the only MP3 player to have a true line out as
I told you a year and a half ago, the status quo still remains smile.

Yeah, like Dain says, blind cool tech has some, and I have a DM-420. It's
okay for what it is I guess, but it only records in MP3 and WMA. I'm a PCM
WAV guy. I prefer PCM WAV. So, I really want to get the LS-7. But like I
said, the DM-420 is okay, I mean they call it the recorder of champions. So,
