I would suggest that if you haven't bought the C Crane transmitter yet.
consider the fm transmitter that radio shack sells first. it has in my mind
better coverage around the house. there is no whip antenna to get broken, and
you don't have to remove any plates and adjust any screws to make it more
powerful. my dad bought one and I tried it out when he was here. the unit can
plug into your soundcard and take up little space.

Re: C-Crane FM Tramsmitters

2005-01-31 Thread Gary G. Schindler

I think the transmitter might be a monster transmitter. it costs about $50.00.
I believe there is a switch that allows you to tune the transmitter from 88.1
to 89.1 megahertz in 200 megahertz steps. at the top of the unit, there is a
cord that has an eighth inch male plug that is plugged into the audio source.
the unit is round on top and squared on the bottom, almost egg shaped. I shall
try to find out more about it.

Frankly, if I am thinking of the right Radio Shack transmitter, I wouldn't want
it as it has
only two possible frequencies, 88.9 and 89.1, neither of which would be
satisfactory in my
geographic area.

I apologize if Gary is speaking of a different transmitter.

Here are the notes I have regarding the modification for the ccrane
transmitter. I followed these instructions and was able to turn the screw
up for better range.

The C. Crane Company, Fortuna, Calif., offers a low-power FM transmitter.
Blind end users report a limited range when they take the C. Crane unit out
of the box and plug it in. It often reaches only as far as a single room. I
am pleased to report that ingenious blind end users have found a solution to
this dilemma.

There is a rectangular, depressed space on the back of the unit about one
inch by two inches. It is a thin metal or plastic plate that is surrounded
by a feelable line. It's a little rougher in texture than the surrounding
casing and looks like it's a label, which it is. The plate is flexible, but
it is stuck on with good adhesive. It can go back into place very nicely, if
carefully removed. Slide a knife blade in under the corner of the plate and
get it started peeling off.
Once the plate has been carefully pealed off, you'll feel three tiny holes.
The left most of the three holes has an adjusting screw, so you'll need a
very small Philips screwdriver. Turn the screw a quarter to a half turn
clockwise until it stops. Replace the plate. If you were careful with the
plate, you can get it back in place with no noticeable damage.
After performing this adjustment, end users report dramatic improvements in
the performance and range of the unit. People report the range extends
throughout their homes and yard.

Best regards,

Rick Alfaro

C Crane transmitter update

2005-01-31 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Hello,

Because of the problems some are having in locating that adjustment screw, I
phoned the C Crane
company this morning and spoke with a woman named Janet who told me that the
transmitter had not
been modified since I bought mine approximately two years ago.

So it is still a matter of placing a small blade under a corner of the label on
the rear of the
unit and peeling the label back, which will expose the screw.

I think the transmitter might be a monster transmitter. it costs about
$50.00. I believe there is a switch that allows you to tune the transmitter
from 88.1 to 89.1 megahertz in 200 megahertz steps. at the top of the unit,
there is a cord that has an eighth inch male plug that is plugged into the
audio source. the unit is round on top and squared on the bottom, almost egg
shaped. I shall try to find out more about it.

I would suggest that if you haven't bought the C Crane transmitter yet.
consider the fm transmitter that radio shack sells first. it has in my mind
better coverage around the house. there is no whip antenna to get broken,
and you don't have to remove any plates and adjust any screws to make it
more powerful. my dad bought one and I tried it out when he was here. the
unit can plug into your soundcard and take up little space.

Thanks to all who have provided information concerning the CCrane FM
transmitter! Now all I need to do is to get someone here who can take care
of this as I ddon't quite have nerve enough to tackle it myself! Even as it
is, the range isn't too bad! However..I do find, for example, that if I
tune my clock radio (which is one of those Sony Dream Machines) it won't
pick up the signal from the transmitter good enough for it to be in stereo.
I feel fairly certain that, based on the information that I've heard, that
turning that screw will solve that problem!

trying to sign up to college sports on yahoo

2005-01-31 Thread john riehl
I'm findint it impossible to sign up for the college sports package on Yahoo. I
click on a men's ncaa game I'm interested in and am told I
need to subscribe. I click on the sign up link and get to choose between the
single-school package or miltiple school package. I click
on my choice and get five links, none of them lets me sign up. No matter how
often I try this, I can't get past this point in the process.
I can't even find a phone number I can use to call Yahoo. anybody got a clue
what I can do?
I'd have thought Yahoo would have made it easy to spend more of my money!

Re: Accessible Tuners

2005-01-31 Thread Brian Hansen
Another tuner might be the String Master Robotic Tuner. I haven't tried
this one yet, but there was some discussion on the MIDI-Mag site about it.
You can go to http://www.actiontuners.com/

Supposedly this tuner will mount on the tuning key and use a motor mechanism
to tune the string.

Blessings,

Brian

Subject: C Crane transmitter update

 Hello,

Because of the problems some are having in locating that adjustment screw,
I phoned the C Crane
company this morning and spoke with a woman named Janet who told me that
the transmitter had not
been modified since I bought mine approximately two years ago.

So it is still a matter of placing a small blade under a corner of the
label on the rear of the
unit and peeling the label back, which will expose the screw.

RE: iriver mp3 player manual

2005-01-31 Thread Hamish Mackenzie
Hi All

As the subject line suggests I am looking for a manual for the H340
which I recently purchased. I have figured out how to do certain things
such as play books and songs and use the radio but I want to have a look
at the manual but am having problems. I have downloaded the manual from
the Iriver web site and off the installation cd but when I open it with
both adobe 6 and 7 Jaws version 6 cant read a bloody thing. Has anyone
managed to convert this manual to a format that is useful?

Cheers

Hamish

Hello Russell. The default setting for recording is via the line-in
jack where you can plug a mic or another source like a tape player, vcr,
etc. If you want to change the recording source to internal mic you
will need to do this vai the internal menus which unless you know the
order of will need sighted assistance. To record you do the ofollowing.

1. Power the unit by pressing the power/play button on the top right
side.

2. Press and hold the record button which is the only button on the
left side. Hold it in for about 1 to 2 seconds..

Now you are in recording mode. To start recording press the record
button once and the unit starts recording. To pause recording press the
record button and again to resume. If you want to stop recording, not
just pause press the stop button on the right side and wait for the file
to save which can take a few seconds. You are still in record mode so
to start a new file press the record button once and a new recording
will start.

Hope this is clear.

Hi folks,

I don't know if it's gonna be useful to anybody, but I've got a tiny
software guitar tuner. It's 100% accessible, plays strings singly or in
chords, and has a looping option.

I can email it to anybody, if you are interested.

Best regards,
