Jaws guide for Windows Media Player 11

2007-05-08 Thread David Bailes
I've written a guide for Windows Media Player 11.
Although it's written for users of the Jaws
screen-reader, it will probably be useful to users of
other screen-readers. The guide can be found in the
Audio section of this page:
http://vip.chowo.co.uk/jaws-guides/

Any comments or suggestions for improving the guide
would be appreciated,

David Bailes.

Re: Joost Internet TV

2007-05-08 Thread Steve Pattison
I haven't tried Joost Internet TV yet. Unfortunately at the moment
during the beta cycle for Joost you can only download it if you have
an invitation from someone else who is also using Joost and I don't
know anyone who is using the program. Joost is available from
www.joost.com and is being developed by the same people who develop Skype.

Re: Joost Internet TV

2007-05-08 Thread Mr. Juan
Hi steve:
well for starters I can let you know since I got an invite a couple of days ago
and decided to give it a try.
a least with window eyes isn't accessible at all.
In order for me to get my juice name, I had to have my sighted wife help me
because none of the fields are read or labeled.
after I managed to sign on something starts playing allright but unless someone
clicks with the mouse the program doesn't work as i said earlier.
neither the arrows nor the cursor keys work here at all.
there are some good channels for what I could tell but perhalfs with jfw might
work better which I haven't tried with though by the looks of the program I
don't think so.

One place where you can find this patch is at

The patch is 56kb in size. It is an .EXE file and when you run it it

Sound Forge question for those who own it

2007-05-08 Thread Larry N
Hi. Based on the advice offered by many members of this group, I finally
purchased Sound Forge. Now, is it me, or are the CDs that load the program
and related software somewhat inaccessible? Can someone point me in the
right direction here? So far, I accidentally stumbled onto the Sound Forge
.exe, but no luck with the programs that come with it. I have both
Windo-Eyes and Jaws, so I can work with either.

Now then, just as an observation and with no wish to stir up controversy of
any kind, in my view, the current definition of what is deemed appropriate
for discussion as PC Audio has narrowed of late, so if I've strayed off
topic, my appollogies, and please feel free to email me with suggestions off
list.

My thanks in advance to anyone who might be willing to lend a hand.

Peace,

: : : :
: : : : Now some observations: while both the Juice uninstaller
: : : : and add/remove programs XP utility decided that Juice

: : : : Hence, when the program returned to the pc, it

: : : : what had been erased, skipped, etc. While in this

Hello Joe,
I am a DJ by trade.
To the best of my knowledge, Sound Blaster is the best sound card you can
get for pcs.
I made my sound card sound a hole lot better by hooking a pare of tube amps
and a pare of Jensen P8Q speakers up to it.
That's how I lurned that your sound card is as good as the speaker sistem
you are driving with it.
Try a better pare of speakers and see if that works for you.
Happy music making on your pc.

Billy,
That's interesting that you should say n-track is accessible. In
trying the latest version, didn't find it too accessible here, and
I'm using the latest version of JAWS here

Hey, Joe!

friend of mine is an artist on an independent label, and he says that a

As for multitracking, I use N-Track, and it can be found at:

 http://www.ntrack.com

It is cheap, or should I say inexpensive, easy to use, and the quality
is superb. Matthew Bullis turned me onto it, and he has a product review on
ACB radio.

Check it out, and if you have any questions, let me know. I, too, am a
guitar player, doing some multitracking.

I'm rushing out the door at the moment, but if you would like, we can
stay in touch, just to keep on top of things together.

 Enjoy!

gig of ram and about two gig processor speed with windows XP. home and
jaws 7. I use a SoundBlaster audigy card. I have a Macki 1202vlz mixer. Is
my audigy card of high enough quality to do this? or do I need a better
one. If so, what card would any musicians and vocalists recommend. Looking
forward to any answers on this.
  Thanks, Joe.

Re: sound card fore home studio

Hi Joe. If you really want good quality, proffessional sounding recordings,
then I would recommend the delta family of sound cards from www.m-audio.com
which has a range of affordable, yet excellent hardware and software for
studio use. In your case, I would recommend the delta 2496 card which is
cheap, yet excellent in results. Cheers!

Nothing to elaborate, just something I can play with at home. My PC. has a

Re: sound card fore home studio

2007-05-08 Thread Bobcat
Delta cards are high quality. However, sometimes they have problems with
some sata hd controllers causing glitching with some audio software.
M-Audio is aware of this but has not fixed it, as far as I know.

BTW: A friend got a Audiophile 24/192 and is not to happy with the sound.
It's mostly quite good but he gets no real low frequencies. We have
confirmed this by listening but not with test equipment. Not sure what the
problem is. He has also not been able to get it to work with Sonar or any
other midi software yet. Maybe his drivers got hozed when he had a
motherboard meltdown. Unfortunetly, he has misplaced the software Cd for
the card. I can't help him with this and I feel frustrated.
