Hello,

On my XP home system, I had no difficulty installing or running the
1.70 beta for CDEX.

I also downloaded the 1.70 beta for Windows 9x to be installed on my 98
S E system.

The installation went fine; and, when I ran the program, it opened
fine. But, when I pressed the f4 key to configure the Lame encoder, I
got the following message:

Unicode failure. The Microsoft layer for unicode failed to initialize.
 Please reinstall.

So, I reinstalled, with the same result. So just what does this mean,
since I have never seen such a message previously? And, what, if
anything can I do about it?

Thanks for ideas.

Don Roberts
