Hello,
A few months ago, I got a new Windows 7 64-bit laptop. I’m using Window Eyes
8.4 on it. I copied all the albums I had ripped or downloaded from my old
Windows Vista laptop to a hard drive, (since I don’t have a PC transfer cable),
and then from the hard drive to my new machine. Unfortunately, all the Date
fields, including the one I want to preserve, the Date Created field, were set
to the date and time I copied the files. I do sometimes view my albums
alphabetically, but most of the time, I like to view them in the order I put
them on my system, and I can no longer do that on the new laptop.
A friend of mine told me about Robocopy, but the version that was on my Vista
laptop didn’t preserve any date fields when we tried copying some of the albums
to the hard drive. Then he found a more recent version that is supposed to be
able to do that. But I wanted to ask here if anyone knows of an easier way. I’d
rather find something more modern, that is more user friendly, something that
you don’t have to run from the command prompt and remember various slash
options, if I can before installing this, which may not work any better than
the one that’s on there now. Of course, it has to be accessible with Window
Eyes, which may also limit my options.
I really appreciate any help on this.
Evan
