LG G5 review | TrustedReviews

2016-05-14 Thread Dane Trethowan
Since Anders mentioned the LG G5 I've been taking a closer look at this
phone which I hope to get a look at soon.

I mention the phone here again as it has a Module system where extra
modules to have the phone perform different fuctions can be attached,
the DAC Module is a case in point.

When the B DAC is attached the user gets an extra heapdhone socket and
better audio quality for their music collection thanks to the DAC so
this module alone would be a good reason for music lovers to look at the G5.

A camera module also exists which I'm told - from other sources apart
from this review - performs just as well as a good SLR.

Would I buy one? Probably not though I'm still interested in going to
have a look at a G5, the Samsung Galaxy S6 along with the Oppo DAC
provide me with enough clout in the Android Mobile World for the moment.

The review mentions the build quality of the LG G5 and I wasn't
surprised to read the comments so that will be something I'll be
interested to see for myself, the Galaxy S6 is of an excellent build and
I doubt I'd settle for anything less now so thank Goodness the S6 has
other competition from HTC etc.

there’s certainly plenty out there in the world of Android phones and more than
plenty of time to match.

I’ve been looking ahh the price of one of the LG phones, the G5 is more
expensive than I thought it would be though I didn’t see any variable internal
memory sizes, I only saw a 32GB model though the place where I looked were
selling the G5 like hot cakes.

Hi!
I’ve heard both good and bad from people using Lg phones.
But we’ll see.
Don’t think i will waist money on that.
There are other things i want as well but they are so steap in price that i can
not afford them.

Hi again!

I'm on an Android list, someone has just bought themselves a LG G5 phone
so you might like to join that list and see what comments he has to make
about the phone if any at all.

If you manage to get one then let us know how you get on.

I know a Mobile Engineer who works at one of our big phone company's in
Australia, he tests mobile phones and wouldn't advise anyone to buy a LG
device.

I've seen a couple and to me they look very flimbsy compared to what's
on offer from Samsung and Sony.

I do know that LG take shortcuts in the manufacturing process wherever
they can but then again there are a lot of manufacturers that probably
do that.

And - again a personal observation and this one is general - most of the
people I've seen on lists with Android phones having problems seem to
own a LG phone.

LG have launched a phone in Australia which is capable of receiving DAB+
Digital Radio broadcasts but I'm wary of this unit given its price of
$425 Asutralian dollars, just sounds far too cheap for anything too good.

Actually getting the phone to receive DAB+ is probably easier than it
looks, the phone already has a front end and antenna? All that needs to
be don is to modify the SDR unit to receive the appropriate frequency's,
I'm assuming of course that all phones now days use SDR units - SDR
being Software Defined Radio -.

The other thing which occured to me when thinking about the new LG unit
was that many - if not all - the DAB+ stations in Australia can be
received over the Internet as is and in probably better quality most likely.

Anyway it will be most interesting to see how LG go with this phone,
about time we had a phone that offered DAB+ radio.
