RE: Quality of MP3 players
Dane Does the ipod have a line out socket or does it take the headphone sound and convert the impedence to line out? If so then I would not consider it true line out as you still have all the noise from the headphone amplifier. Is there an ipod with a genuine line out socket on the market? Just curious. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Dane Trethowan Sent: 03 November 2010 07:45 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Quality of MP3 players Not bad no! but the Ipod Nano's with their line out dock run a close race with it I have to admit, the generations of Nano up to the third were pretty God damn awful. The Iphone gives a good account of itself too! when compared to the Iriver. Haven't tried the Nokia N85 or compared it with anything yet but - if my Nokia N95 is any guide - then its not even in the race, convenient MP3 player perhaps but not great sound quality. The best sound quality I've ever got from a stand-alone MP3 player is from my all-singing all-dancing Pioneer DVD player I purchased 6 years ago and I paid an arm for at the time, $700.00 but of course that's not comparable to what we're discussing as you can't move it around smile. The dock socket of the Ipod has a line out yes so you'll need one of the many docks to use that facility. Dane So if I understand you correctly then the ipod has both a headphone and a line out socket? Re: Quality of MP3 players
You understand me correctly however the Line out can only be accessed through the dock connector.
