Re: Sending Attachments To The List
Greetings, SendSpace does have a dropbox facility but I've not investigated it. Sendspace for a max account allows files to remain forever if you wish, or you can set limits for just about everything. Sendspace gives you 100gb for a max account and a maximum of 300mb per file and a maximum of 8gb per day download. I cannot remember the other settings but know the premium account allows files of up to 10gb to be uploaded / downloaded and there are several other account types too. There are also different download / upload speeds, the fastest is I believe 10megs per second down and 5megs per second up, dependent, of course, on your own system. I have a max account and am very pleased with the service. From Colin Howard, who lives in a small place near Southampton and after a few days, likes to change his signature as he thinks it gets boring! Hi, Wondering why now when uploading a file to sendSpace no email with link is sent once file is uploaded? I use the wizard and checked the settings but couldn't see any thing relating to email. There is a limit of capacity in both cases. However, dropbox allows a minimum of 2 gb capacity. Whereas, sendspace only allows 300 mb which is pitiful in my opinion. With Dropbox the files can be shared in a couple of ways and they are, you can either set up and share a folder between people or you can send a link to a list such as this for people to click on and download the content that you wish to share with them. The Mailman software does not permit attachments to be posted. This is the case with most, if not all, e-mail lists. If someone has an audio related file they wish to share the best way to handle it is to post a message on the list describing the file. Then, whoever wants the file can make contact off list and have the file sent directly. If there's a need for it, I could set up an FTP option at pc-audio.org and files could be exchanged with FTP. Re: Sending Attachments To The List
Good evening Tom and listmembers. In terms of anyone's direct experience, how does Dropbox compare in quality and efficiency to Sendspace as an internmediate web-based audio file transfer agent? What are the capacity and time limits of each? Is either or both free or do you need to buy subscriptions? Thanks in advance for your info and guidance.
