you need to install the packages liblo-dev and dssi-dev.

ah -- ok will track these down and install
thanks
I've been playing around with the plugin~ help file a little
and fixed it (for me at least) so it doesn't crash PdX
if you open plugin~-help.pd as a text file
and delete all instances of [info], [print] and [reset] messages
it should work
hope this is useful to someone
feedback is welcome if
I had the [dssi~] external in the [postlude] library by Jamie Bullock
but it didn't seem to be working
so I compiled dssi~ after getting the liblo-dev and dssi-dev libs
(it actually compiled which was a surprise)
but while I can now host a LADSPA
I am not sure how to find out what message to
it cannot be used to DISPLAY text - if I understand the help
file correctly
do you know of something that can display text similar to the [textedit]
object in Max/MSP?
thanks for your help!

I've pasted my reply from the thread easy effects, and I also started
a page on plugin~/LADSPA in the FLOSS Manual (*very* rough, needs a lot
of expansion!):
http://en.flossmanuals.net/bin/view/PureData/UsingLADSPAplugins
[plugin~] can be tricky or just a plain pain the wazoo to use
is this the correct url for the archives?
http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/
cuz I'm getting a blank page - which someone also mentioned on the list
a few days ago...

I know this topic has been brought up in the past and I searched the

I'm unable to get plugin~ working on Pd version 0.41-4extended
I have set a path to my LADSPA library
as well as the plugin~ dir in my extras directory
I can instantiate an object
