stay there unless AF is really important (like sports).

I just noticed an unusual phenomenon. While pretty much everybody online is

I live in India where it is difficult (and expensive) to buy used and

Hi Gaurav,
There is a camera swap meet in Orange county, but it is only every other
week or so. Lots of used stuff. Sometimes you can get a deal. I saw
a guy snag a SMCP 50/1.2 for $75 once, the guy selling it didn`t

I don`t remember the name or address of the show,

Would be interesting, but I'm not going spend several

This is a venting exercise for me so I apologize if this is too long.
For the second time this month Henry's sales reps have annoyed me to no end.
Both times I went into the store asking about the Pentax Digital ist D and
both times some arrogant sales person tried to sell me Canon crap instead
Just got back from my second day of shooting at the World Cycling in
Hamilton, Canada. yesterday I shot with wide angles and short zooms mostly. Today I
shot with the K200 2.5 and 300F4* lens. Should be interesting to see the
diffences... I'll get some of the better ones up when I get them
A lot of people are predicting the end of film but I don't buy it. Yes more
and more people are moving to digital but there are still millions of film
cameras out there that will continue to be used for decades. I think people
are
beginning to panick a little too much about the future of film.
I'm thinking of getting the ist D if I can save up the money, but already
have good lenses in the 18-35 range. Is there any advantage to getting the
FA-J 18-35 for the ist D or should I stay with the lenses I have and save
money.
Thank you
Charles Wilson
I used to work in a camera store and I can tell you why the sales person
tried to sell you a Canon. Most of you may already know this, but I will
say it for those who don't. Reps in retail stores get commissions,
obviously, but they don't always get the same amount for selling different
brands,

If you were downtown at Henry's, why not check out Downtown Camera, a block
west on Queen Street? They're a little smaller, but they are friendly and
helpful , and probably have similar prices.

I have had it with those guys myself, too many times

Vic, lets put it this way, Henry's won't hire me to
work in one of their stores, I don't know enough about
photography, yet their own store staff can't tell the
difference between slides or ir film. so go figure.

I don't mind if a sales person makes a recommendation for a product they
believe in, as long as they respect your decission to not follow the
recommendation. I used to frequently recommend Pentax products because I
use them myself and could honestly say why I was recommending it, but when
