I would not recommend to do that. The left hand top cover is one of the few
parts on the LX that are easy to remove ;-) and once you have that off

I always figured that the ones with worn out shutters had a motor drive on them
at one time. That and the idea they did not ever need a CLA. If you run a
highspeed motor drive on your camera you really should have it CLA'd every year
or two. And be sure to tell the technician about the drive so

(especially for non-tele lenses), the subject and the amount of lens travel
are so small the system is unable to differentiate the difference. Just try
to manual focus and notice how the AF indicator behaves. The acceptable
