I'd also recommend the PZ-1p, and I second nearly all the
recommendations already made about it (I haven't found it to vibrate
much -- I think the stronger-sounding shutter, motor wind, etc., may
give that impression. The K2 has quite a kick, as does the Super
Program/Super A. But
I'd use a scanning service and pay a trained, experienced scanner
operator to scan my slides for me. They'd do a better job than I
would, and realistically it'd cost much less in the long run

Yesterday about 1/2 the pix made with the DS were made with the wrong white
balance. I'd made some shots indoors with one of the indoor white balances
and forgot to switch the WB to daylight. It looks as though the correction
can be made simply enough with the RAW converter.

That's true, Shel. But finding someone who can actually produce great scans is
a problem for most of us. I tried a $100 drum scan from the top pro lab in this
area, and it was mediocre at best. A lot of correction was required. I'm
currently working on a project with a very good photo
