I think this one needs two things. More DOF - probably need more

My reality is set, as stated, and the redundant offering of your

I've resolved just yesterday to, take the 28 - 200 out of my camera bag and
box it up and put it in the garage. While it's a fairly good lens for
snapshots, I am getting more unenamoured?? with it as time goes on. It's
just not sharp enough for serious work.
I'm going to need a 200 or 300mm

Very nice composition. The stance of the deer is fortunate.
IMO, the background tangle would be better if not so busy.
Would work well in a wide pano.

So let me get this right, Pål ...
If I say I like Provia F, it seems I am 'color
challenged'.
But when you say you like Velvia, that is just 'a
matter of taste'.
Thank you for making that so very, very clear.

Tom,
I bought a 28~200 (Re-badged Tamron) when they first came out. Had a,
rarely accepted, wedding shoot coming up.
I ran some quick tests and found it produced some pretty poor images,
especially at 200mm. Probably unfair, but I compared it to those shot
at 200mm with my A 70~210 f/4.
