Boris, Lightroom creates a lot of files *.DNG or *.PEF and *.NOINDEX files in a special library somewhere in your computer. These exists independant of where you stored the original *.DNG files or the resulting jpeg's or Tiff's. So, your computer will quickly get filled up with all these files.

Jens, Lightroom only creates copies of the image source files if you import using the copy or move options. It does not make copies at all if you use the reference files in their existing location option. When it does make a copy, it makes only ONE copy unless you set the option to backup
