If you want to hear some interesting perspectives on DSLR video
capture, Gale Tattersall (the person behind the shooting of that
episode of House made with the Canon 5D II) was interviewed by
Ibarionex Perello on The Candid Frame podcast very recently. You can

I use Firefox, Google is only the back end, I've set it up to be as
unobtrusive as possible, and instituted a number of filters on both
Firefox and Google to make it mimic a real e-mail system. Google is
still probably using me, but I hardly notice.

Original as in Marchioni Bros.
We bought it on eBay for $80, including SH, 10 years ago.
The advantage of it is that it is very steady and rugged.
But it is rather heavy and bulky, and what's worse, dealing with
aluminum leaves hands dirty.
According to the descriptions I read on the web,

I'm not a wildlife or bird photographer, normally ... I was out on my walk this
morning with it fitted to the E-1, photographing landscape and trees, when this
huge white crane drifted into view.

or
Cotty, thanks for the additional clarifications.
I kind of doubt in the one below, - as such a stud is at the bottom
of _each_ of the legs, not just one, as in case of the hole at the
top of the leg.
I suspect that these studs can be used for attaching ground-level
spreaders...
