My copy of the 12-24 is (very) sharp. The stars are visible if stopped
down. I need to check if I have any shots at f4 and highlights. Some
claim it is as good as a prime I don't know because I don't have a 12
mm prime.

some history making a premium body and there is an apparent market for
premium compacts.
