I've gone down several times, as recently as last summer. They are far more treacherous in the rain and some of the older trackage has very large gaps and sit in high metal ridges. If one is riding briskly and a parked car throws open door, you've got to swerve, bunny hop and hope for the best.

Your Photoshop's Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) version needs to be quite recent to handle K-5 files. If your version of Lightroom is opening them fine, then I suggest that you do that and use the Edit in option that you'll see by right-clicking on any image in the Library module. When you select Edit-in

I would offer that for most folks there is good and bad noise, or more aesthetically pleasing noise anyway. When I was shooting with the K100Ds I was almost obsessed with removing noise. But I really disliked that camera's noise as it consisted mainly of repeated coloured streaky stripe patterns.
