Thanks Larry and Mark! I had a vague inkling that this was the play being
alluded to but could not recall the specific reference. We saw this many years
ago (maybe as a local high school play?) and I would never have remembered the
name of the flower.

Jan and I saw this last week, - it is a very unusual and very good filmic
experience. I found it
helped to know a little about the life of van Gogh, and particularly his
relationship with his
brother.
I agree with Dan, well worth the effort of finding a cinema showing it!

Thanks Dan! Meg says this is a Night Blooming Cerius.
As to the informal name “Audrey” (which I gather is an obscure pop cultural
reference which escapes me) , my recently deceased mother-in-law Audrey would
have been pleased to have her name associated with such a beautiful flower! So
thanks

It has been awhile since I posted.
Summer 2016 we spent some time in Alaska, some of that in a B Meg admired
one of their house plants, she was gifted a cutting and brought that home.
We recently had a blossom. Big event! It is said to happen only once a year. I
did a number of images
Here is a link that tells a lot more about the making of the movie:

This is a very unusual movie. I explores the death of Vincent Van Gogh,
and whether it was suicide, murder or a tragic accident. It does it,
however in a film that entirely painted -- by hand -- in the style of Van
Gogh, using the painting he made during the last 70 days of his life in the
I like the feeling of depth in that image.

Road trip to SoCal last weekend!
I drove out of Palm Springs on my way to San Diego heading south and west on
Hwy 74 over the mountains. This is the view back to the north from the top of
the ridge on Hwy 74 looking towards Palm Springs and the Palm Desert. Time is
about 8:45 in the morning.
Impressive!
