I just did a test. My home directory /Users/lrc is symbolically linked to /Volume/ssd_raid/Users/lrc. If instead of pointing lightroom at ~/photos_fresh I point it to /Volume/ssd_raid/Users/lrc/photos_fresh I can move files from there to my archive drive without problems. Lightroom breaks on
