Rick, we have a whole-house surge protector, it is wired in through the main
circuit panel. It seems to help. Or maybe my running in circles three times
shouting “boo Canon, boo Nikon, yeah Pentax” is what has provided the
protection. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Have you thought of a battery back up for your computer - recommended by a
computer geek after I lost my computer during a similar event - haven't had
another failure like that since and we've had a number of outages since.

Doug,
It's certainly not normal! We've been in this house 37 years and have never
had an event like this before.
We're looking into getting a whole-house surge protector to provide a
second layer of defense..

Yes Lightroom Classic (LrC) is what you want. Lightroom (Lr) needs a real
cloud subscription (1 Tb), It also works with Lightroom Mobile. And all 3
can work together in the cloud.
Lightroom Classic is the one, the rest is nice (and expensive)

For desktop editing you should get a subscription for Lightroom Classic with
Photoshop. This is the cheapest option for which get only 20 GB cloud storage.
You will be pleased with all the new features in Lightroom Classic compared to
Lightroom version 6.
I wouldn't look any further unless you
Hey all. My old 2010 iMac has had it and I ordered a new 24” iMac delivery
date unknown at this time. I know I’ll have to upgrade from my old LR 6 but
confused with the new naming structure.
I just got a email from Matt K regarding a LR 7 that allows for desktop
