Very nice mood, especially in the thumbnails. A bit too dark for my taste (or
not dark enough) especially the first one.

At one point in that portrait shootout I got tired of stealing people's light
with the flash trigger I had smuggled in (and making them wait for the flashes
to recycle) and bumped ISO up from 80 to 3200 to make do with the pilot lights
only. Now ISO3200 in studio is something I never thought I
I wasn't having tremendously good luck, I even tried the pop-up flash
on the K-5. Just as I was walking away, I remembered I had my AF540 in
my pack. It took a few tries to get it to even fire, but once I did,
and bumped up the ISO to 4,000, I got some decent shots.

All extremely well done, Bruce! CC; #31 appears slightly red and I'm
trying to decide how well #33 works for me.
Wonderful lighting!

Now that you say it, #31 IS slightly red, I think it works for me but will see
if a little adjustment is in order. #33 is

Subject: GESO: Hoarfrost portraits 100mm ISO 6400
Mostly about my accidental simultaneous K-5/DFA100mm enablement:

I see Krisjanis' juicy ISO3200 portraits and raise to ISO6400, in
particular this one:
Tim,
You better keep that camera/lens combo point at young women.
The older women are gonna kill you if you publish their wrinkles!
Regards, Bob S.
There is a long way to ISO 51200 still and I bet that that ISO alone can hide
any and all wrinkles even with the DFA100 :)

On Wednesday I had an opportunity to attend a studio portrait shootout that was
a part of some photo classes - basically a bunch of students going
trigger-happy. As I was just substituting for some fun I shot JPEGs and frankly
was surprised to see how much I could really play with them -
A couple were shot with an IR-modified K10D and the others with the K-5.

Some nice work here, Kris. You must have had some fun!
I like the close framing, and the standout shot for me is #6. The girl's
happy, mischievous expression makes this
Here are two examples of the AF540 not firing, when shooting at ISO

One each as it came out of the camera, and after auto-tone in
lightroom.
Color me impressed.
