Hi Jostein, I am no expert with AF, but my Canon rarely missed focus. However when I shoot at the fashion show once a year, I use a friends high dollar Nikon and it would miss Focus about 1 out of 30 shots for no apparent reason. I think I would have it looked at to be sure. Steve -

Hi Shel, IIRC it`s the coatings that are the only difference, optically. Reading about the lens on Valentin`s website it struck me The last lens element of the 1:1.2/50 is larger than 24mm, so the mirror house of the camera, not much larger than 24x36mm, blocks part of the last element at 1:1.2 !
