Is this a good lens optically? I am comparing it to the tokina atx 28-80mm and Sigma 28-70mm and tamron 28-105mm. Much distortion at the 24mm end, is flare well controlled.

just out of curiosity i tried my tamron 17mm hood on my pentax fa 20mm and it fits. i am assuming that the fa 24mm f2 is the same size so therefore it would fit too. i now mount a b+w 82mm polariser in the hood permanetly well it means one less polariser to carry. also as the 20mm only comes with

subjective comments very sharp, great bokeh almost 3d in appearance. very useful range-the zooming macro is great for flowers and native plants. also good for lizards and frogs in aquariums (larger ones lol)

I put my 300mm 4.5 FA zoom and teleplus2x convertor on my MZ-S and guess what autofocus was fast and very accurate. Better and faster than my tokina 80-200mm zoom. I then got a little excited and tried a sigma 400mm macro 5.6 and provided it was bright sunlight it worked about 50% of the time and
