Hi Aaron
Funny you should say that. I started shooting in clubs with Kodak NC 400,
pushed to 800, and when I sent the film to the lab I got
charged double to develop the film. But since I've been using Fuji Press, even
when pushed - or underexposed one stop - I only pay

I've never been very disciplined in metering properly for my shoots. Because of
some previous disasters, I finally invested in a digital
spot meter - also my Leica doesn't have through the lens metering. I just found
that Fuji Press 800 even when badly metered and
pushed still gave me better
Hi Aaron
Somewhere in the back of my mind I recall someone telling me that Superia was
the same as anothe Fuji pro film. I've used the 800

mostly because I convert it into bw in PhotoShop. Most

Hi
Just to get my two cents in.
I shoot both digital and film, digital camera since May of 2005, digital film
scanning since the advent of the 1st Minolta Dimage Scan.
Digital saved my interest in photography. It allowed me to share my images with
friends and with those whom I admire.
Hi
I have 4 cameras, a Leica, an LX, a Z1p and my new *istDS. I shoot a lot of
club activity and for that I use the Leica with Ilford 3200
film, I also have taken along my LX with Fuji Press 800 film. I usually shoot a
roll of each during a set.
Most recently I have been experimenting with
Hi Tim
I use the Leica for bw using Ilford 3200 ISO film. I've used this film from
800 ISO to almost 12800 ISO depending on the lighting.
If I take my LX, I use Fuji Press 800 ISO pushed one stop. I do this primarily
to distinguish the artist from the background.

Hi Markus
I have a series of images that I took, the equivalent of 800 ISO - 12800 ISO
with the Ilford 3200 film. I had the film developed at a
local photo lab with no adjustments. I don't mind sending them to you if you
e-mail me. The images were scanned at 72 dpi approx.

Hi Markus
I had some problems with musicians wearing black standing in front of deep red
velvet curtains, and since then have also shot colour

Hi Derby
Yeah, it's impossible to use autofocus, plus the noise - although with your
daughter's friend's band, I don't think they'd notice :-) - I
just manual focus all, and I do have some trouble. (I'm going to try out the
KatzEye rangefinder prism in a couple of weeks) .

Some really nice portraits of the band members. Great colour. Curious about

Hi
I have one question about the filters used. It would seem that the Hoya R72 has
been the filter most used and recommended. Is this
because it is the most effective of the available filters? Or can other
filters, such as the Cokin 89B or the Ilford SFX filter have the
same results?

Know the feeling. One morning while getting ready for work, my wife called me

I was very pleasntly surprised with the results. This makes a very

About camera bags. I have one friend who keeps his expensive gear in

He never locks the car.
About 10 years ago, we had a robbery, and the

I also prefer to convert the images into black white, even when I'm using

Hi Derby
I Guess I try to get the musician as he' s playing, again trying to guess when
he's at the top of his movement.
I've used Leica with a 135mm f2.8 lens for most of my shooting, so I rarely get
a group photo with this lens. I have a Pentax FA
100mm macro which I've used, I think once
Hi
I just want to know where you find a club that you can shoot ISO 200 and still
have 1/125 second wide open My last club shoot, I
rated my film between 6400 and 12800 and still could only shoot at about 1/15
at f2.8.
Maybe the conditions here in this province are much worse than the media

Hi
I've probably and unknowingly been paraphrasing that for the last 40 years :-).
And I'm glad that it was one of my heroes that said it.
I have a couple of photos of musicians that are so tack sharp that it looks
like a studio - promo set up.

But if prism screens work in thses cameras, why haven't Pentax introduced them?
For my money I would rather spend even a
