It sure does, and straight out of the box, if I recall correctly. I used to
use my *istD with m42 lenses all the time, and never had a problem
It does, but I found it next to useless as it was not terribly
accurate. The newer bodies do better. IIRC there's a custom function
to turn it on.

To use the confirmation with the AF * istD series, we need the mount to
make electrical contact.
Some M42 mounts are too narrow
