I like my tripods and try to carry one of them with me whenever possible. Still, there are times when I just leave the tripod at some place (under a shade, on a rock, whatever) and walk only with my camera at hand. I know I can reach it for help if I need to; I do not feel guilty (!) if I do not

In my case, the tripod's only advantage is that of steadying the camera. In fact, I think my framing and composition is generally better without it, because adjusting the camera position is easier and more fluid. Tripods are great when needed, but I find they get in my way. On Feb 4, 2012, at
