Thanks for the comments Ann, Dan, Bob.
Bob, I agree about the darkness of the eagle exposure. I've cranked it up a
bit, overall and shadows, and reloaded.

I've also added another eagle shot from today; this guy wasn't as close so I
had to crop

Stan,
I don't know if you have enough detail for this, but you could push
that eagle farther.

Pentax K-5 II s handles back lit situations nicely. ISO 200 and

No zoom. A few in the gallery may have been with the DA*300/4.0; most/all were
with the 300 + F1.7xAF extender. I have my Sigma 150-500 zoom with me but this
combination is smaller lighter and I find I prefer it. I meant to bring the
60-250/4.0 to try out with the 1.7x but it sits on the shelf
Nice collection of images! The loons and other waterfowl are great, but
I really like the three damselflies hanging like thin blue flags on
green reeds. Great!

Stan,
The loon with the dragon-fly/miniature helicopter hovering is really
terrific. Some of the others are nice field guide portraits but
loon and friend are definitely decisive moment fun.

Thanks Ann. Luck happens.

Stan,
A very nice GESO. The dragon flies and ducks are very nice.
You need to crank up the exposure on that eagle. It's too dark,
and Lightroom could fix that.
