I probably should have mentioned that "kia orana" is a greeting in Cook Islands Maori. Their language is closely related to NZ Maori, who say "kia ora". There is history of settlers from the Cook Islands colonising NZ so the lingual similarities are not surprising. Cook Islanders are brought
