I hope it will be used in a winter tourism prospect next year but must
Michael Kenna's photography (gees, I'm name dropping today) is
wonderful. He's one of my favorite photographers. If you dig through
the interviews on his site you'll come across a description of how he
prints his work. He specifically states that he does not use
selenium, but sepia instead.
Yes, Markus' toning is reminiscent of Michael Kenna's toning palette.
I was at the Steven Wirtz Gallery in SF last Friday ... they're the
local hub for MK's work since they represent him in this area ... and
enjoyed a half hour studying about ten of his photographs on display
there.
Ping! thanks !
if I only had a brain
doesn't look like Markus applied either though - at least not on my monitor

I don't really pick up on the sepia'. I do like the contrast and
wonder if a softer tone would compromise it.
An image I can spend time examining.
Like it!

Hello Markus,
At first, it seemed a little busy without immediately grabbing my
attention. But I looked around the photo and rather liked looking.
Almost like I was there looking around. I think the trees masking all
the buildings so I can't clearly see any of them is kind of cool. All
in all
Markus,
I can see now where our Smithsonian Institute borrowed it's architecture.

I like it.
You sure captured the details.
I'd prefer a little colder depiction.
The real proof will be in the print.

Hi Pentaxians
I really like this b/w sepia
LIke the photo - looks black and white to me -- not sepia toned. Or
did you just mean should I sepia tone it?
You ask should it be more blue... sepia is a brownish tint - is this a
lost in translation thing? :)
I forgot the name for the blue toner stuff

I don't know that I'd call the color of this sepia but it's a nice
effect. Overall, I like the photo a lot ... but it needs to be
printed VERY large to be effective. It loses too much in this small
rendering.
