Interesting. I haven't noticed my camera (same lens) vignetting so much.
It could be a combination of vignetting and incidental shadowing due to
ambient lighting... Tests would be good.

I looked at these out of order - and my reaction to #2 was that the
foreground was too bare. So, you can guess how I feel about number #1.
It may not be possible but if you could get up close the the log and use
a wider angle it might be a more interesting shot. I like the concept

I much prefer the re-do with the tree. I'd like both versions a little
better if the stack peeking over the hill to the left were moved about
30 yards down the hill..or at least out of sight. :)
