Located in Yuba Co, CA on Hammonton/Smartsville Road. Site is south off HWY 20
'prox 15 miles east of Marysville, CA.
Location is then 8 to 10
the coordinates. Haven't loaded Google Earth on this fairly
new computer or I'd tell you.

Is this northwest of the town of Sutter? Google Earth shows the distinct
remnants of a volcanic cone with the high points labeled West Butte and South
Butte. You can get a 3-D view and fly around each of them.

I've seen a very similar scene to this on Banks Peninsula, which also has a
volcanic origin.

I agree with the comments of others...it could use some dynamic contrast
that would make both the rocks and the foliage more definitive. Very
interesting landscape. Where in CA is it?

I completely agree, Bruce. I wanted to pull it back and do exactly what
you suggest immediately after sending.
I've reworked the original including cleaning up some edges in addition to
pumping some contrast presence into it.

That's a fascinating looking place, Jack. One could go crazy doing
closeups of those formations.
I like this shot, but I feel your image would benefit from some
midtone contrast enhancement. It just looks a little pale such that
the rocks don't stand out.
