30 year old 28mm lens -- almost 40 years now - on the K-5 . Once years
ago I had to have it repaired because of a focus problem... . so I took
it off, set it aside, and put on the 50... still fuzzy.. nothing in
focus. as

Stare at the viewfinder info while nudging the diopter adj back and
forth a notch and you may get a sharper position. I also find it's
easier to manipulate that thing if I remove the rubber eye cup first.

Is it the M28? I have the 3.5 and its probably my favoritest lens
ever. I've taken more pictures with that than any other and it always
delivered when stopped down slightly. My copy sadly has stuck aperture
blades. Its sitting in a pile of things to hopefully soon send to
eric.

I removed the eye cup altogether.. don't like them - cuts out too much
of the view.
I think my glasses may have slid the diopter over...
FOrst thing I did was set it when I got it... and center is about as
good as it gets. but removing the eye cup probably made it easier to
move the diopter

If you're going to remove it, the diopter adjustment will get knocked around
pretty easily. A little wad of museum putty will lock it in place.
