Thanks Ann and others for comments. Yes, you can eat velvet shank mushrooms. A cultivated (white) variety is enoki-take well known in Asian food and claimed to have health benefits. But you have to be careful not picking a similar looking mushroom, the deadly galerina (funeral bell)! Henk Op di

Toine, those are beautiful shots! Chestnuts were the dominant tree species here in Pennsylvania (and many other areas in the US) until a fungal blight arrived in 1904. Our house, built in 1886, has chestnut woodwork throughout. It is so resistant to rot that even our window frames are in
