Hey Folks,
Delurking to post some stuff for sale:
1) SMC-A 200/4 (non-macro) - this lens is in Mint to EX+ condition. Looks
hardly used. Glass is clean and clear. Mechanically perfect. Comes with

I'm thinking that A prices will go up and Ms and Ks down.
My thoughts, too.
Really, this is what has pissed me off most about the lack of pre-A lens
support on all the latest cameras. It wasn't long ago
How 'bout K presets? 1000mm in particular. Whats the magnification factor
again?

I believe its in the 1.5 range Peter.

support on all the latest cameras. It wasn't long ago that I shelled out
some significant money on K lenses, only to have Pentax effectively kill
their resale value.

You can't remove (by disassembling the lens, not by cutting it) the aperture
lever? Just curious... I know that, if possible, for some lenses this could
be easy but for others real pita.
Alex Sarbu
I guess so, although the lens would loose open aperture metering on
other bodies. I don't know if

Yes, this would work. I'm considering it for my 15mm.

Anybody have this lens? I'm looking at buying one to replace my 200/4 M.
Is it as good as the M? Stan's page has no comments for it. Please
don't comment on the A* Macro or FA* Macro. They are way out of my league.
Thanks!

I have the SMC-A 200/4, but I've never used the M version, so I can't
offer a comparison. I've been very happy

Hi Christian,
Is this for *ist compatibility? I ask because that's what I'm doing at the

My thoughts, too. I know that I'm looking at some of my ol' pre-A

Do you mean an SMC Pentax 200/4 K-mount? The SMC Tak 200/4 is a screw
mount. Both are very good lenses. The screw mount version usually sells
for about $75 US. It's inexpensive, because it's plentiful, not because
of its quality. The K-mount version is probably worth about $100 US.

Sounds about right.
I bought one (M series) here for $80CDN (plus tax) but as the shop had a
sale on all second hand goods of 15% off, it actually cost me just less
than $80 total.

I wanted to see how sharp a picture my ZX-M could take with my
three lenses. I have a 50mm f/2.0 SMC-A, a 135mm f/3.5 SMC-M
and a 200mm f/4.0 SMC-M. I used Elite Chrome 200, mounted the
camera on a tripod and shot a section of brick wall with each lens.
They were all of the same section of
