Thanks, Alan. A smaller aperture to extend DOF would call for a greater ISO which is set at an auto limit of 1250 which I consider comfortable. The snow impression is enough for me in this case. I, also, have a 3200 shutter setting when shooting wild "life" thus requiring help from the aperture to

Jack, a lot of my shots in Kruger are at distance. I find the solution is to go for a greater DOF and make the intended subject part of a scenic. In your case, if the mountains had been in focus, it would probably have worked quite well. I remember seeing a shot of a canyon entitled "Bird"

Went to Sacramento Wildlife Refuge yesterday. Actually prox 80 miles north of Sacramento and 50+ from our home. Left all of the left side of the shot partially to keep all of what I could of the snow frosted Coast range background. This eagle was easily 200 yards from me and is pulled up
