I use the Vivitars with no problems. My set has the electrical contacts and
work fine. However, they are too narrow to couple with the L series
teleconverters, so avoid them if you plan to use them with the TC's.

I've owned both but never at the same time, so it's not quite a side by side
comparison, but the Pentax tubes have a nice
Thank you, Shel - I didn't know there was such an animal as a helicoid extension tube,
but I'll check it out now.

Hello all...
Does anyone have experience with Vivitar's K-mount auto extension tube set?
What's the quality like?
I'd prefer Pentax, but the price of Vivitar's set is about 1/3 that of a new
Pentax set.

Of course there's no glass, but in my book, construction quality rates
highly, too.
I feel this way about some polycarb lens bodies: they just don't have the

Hi Tim,
I bought a used set of three off of eBay back in January, for $54 plus
shipping. This is Vivitar's AT-22 set. These tubes have the aperture

Hi,
I have a perfect, like new set of the Vivitar tubes, and they are OK.
However, having tried a friend's Pentax set, I'd give up the Vivitars in
a NY minute. In fact, I bid on a few sets on ebay. The pentax just
seem to fit on the body and lens easier, seem a little better finished,

Thanks, Shel. These tubes represent my first foray into macro photography,
so I can't justify a significant investment in Pentax gear yet. If I go
beyond just experimenting, then I may spring for the good stuff later. If
glass were involved, I wouldn't be quite so anxious to make a compromise.
