D1X is a very fine camera, one that you can still find in at many smaller newsdesks. The AF is super fast and as accurate as AF gets. However, it's still of the earlier generations DSLRs, so there are some quirks. It's, along with Canon 1D, a big battery eater. Hope your friend brings extra

Thanks for the two (so far) tips on using the D1X. Friend says it overexposures by 1/3 stop so has it programed to compensate for it. Was aware of the dirt problem with sensor. The problem with this cameara is it is a field camera in that it operates in military situations in the dry prairies so

D1X is a very fine camera... Be a bit more careful with overexposure, the sensor is older and has a teeny bit less latitude so highlights can clip a bit more easily. Frantisek The same would apply to the D? Are recent sensors (any brand) better on that respect? Andre
