I was in the same boat at Christmas. I had several people wanting Erin's istD, but it would fail, just as a deal was closing. I decided to send it in as well as the busted FA 70-200 and repair both. I managed to sell the istD and a 35-70 lens for $400 Canadian. Two weeks after, it failed again.

Do you think I'd do better if I added, say, my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 to the sale? I was going to sell my last 3 Pentax-mount AF lenses separately because I thought I'd get more money from them. However, I am selling the *istD as a kit with the grip, a handful of batteries, and whatever other odds

I don't know what those lenses bring on the market right now, but I'd say don't repair it, state the condition honestly, and take what comes. If you have a minimum price you won't let it go for less than, put a reserve on it. There's little point to putting $300 into a camera you want to

I think that's up to you. It seems to me that you won't make much at current prices after factoring in the CLA. Almost not worth selling. Amita Guha wrote: I have decided to sell my *istD, but it was due for a cleaning, so I sent it to CO for a CLA. I mentioned that it had gotten some salt

Well, selling it as is you know it will likely fail at some point due to corrosion. So if you're going to sell it, you should disclose its condition, which will hurt the sale price. Completed auctions on *ist D body only are running around $250-300 at present. Godfrey On Apr 20, 2007, at

I would not have the repair done. Live with the stickiness, or perhaps some light sewing machine oil will free it up [warn me, group, if I'm off-base on this], or just sell it with the caveat of a sticky power switch. Maris Amita Guha wrote: I have decided to sell my *istD, but it was due
