Patrick, let me humbly suggest that you take it to fully manual (M)
mode and try again. It seems to me that any (semi)automatic mode
forces P-TTL automatics to engage.

I have two turntable setups, one optimized for
stereo LPs and one optimized for mono LPs.
There were too many great mono LPs in the
50's and 60's to not hear them as good as possible.
Mono LPs sound much better using a dedicated mono
cartridge. The only thing I havent done is use a single
speaker
looks very well exposed to me. Apart from the 2 specular highlights it
makes for a very atmospheric shot.

Actually, Gottlieb Daimler built an IC-engined motorcylcle at about that time.
I believe it ran on butane. It was a precursor to his first car, which came in
1886.

Hi,
Recently someone posted some examples of blue channel noise experienced
with the K10D. I can't find that message or the thread. Would someone be
kind enough repost the original message, or provide a pointer to it in the
archive.
Thanks from cold and foggy Kensington, CA.

Thank you for the tip ... It just did not cross my mind to try that...
I do 90% of my shooting in Aperture priority mode but metered manual
will do fine.

Thanks to all for your help suggestions. In the end I didn't buy
Pentax, I bought some Viking Vistron 8x42s, which are a decent quality
entry-level pair:

They have all I need, are well made, and are quite a bit cheaper than
the Pentax
