I've never felt it to be fair for customers to bring in dirty slides and
expect us to clean them, though if the order was for only a couple of scans
then it isn't so bad.
I can't say I understand you here. At least, I sure haven't found a
way to keep my slides dust-free, and if I'm going to pay

the result of underexposing the snow on the ground while preserving much of the
highlights in the streetlamps and surrounding branches. Nice effect. Nice work.

I see people complaining about the 16-50/2.8 on DPReview a lot too.
But people there seem to complain about every insignificant thing all
the time. If something does not perform precisely as they want or
erroneously presumed it ought, then it's obviously faulty and you

contrast. If anything, it could use some more midrange brightness, but I like
it just the way Frank rendered it.

Before I bought my Nikon Super Coolscan 4000ED, I had a local commercial
outfit (Meteor) scan hundreds of images. What I came up with to miniimize
dust was to use a bulb blower to blow away the
$50 that's a real bargain. Buy them all!. I paid more. They sell voor
229 euro in our wallmart version. The lens is a simple achromat, I
don't think it's a great telelens (if you can find the optional T
mount adapter).

His best bet is probably to buy flat material and make his own. The compresion
is low enough that a flat gasket should seal the head up ok. Most auto shops
can get you sheets of gasket material. It sure isn't the cheapest way of doing
things, but it just may be the only solution.
